Jobs created by Aston Martin in St Athan

Aston Martin have announced they will be creating 750 new skilled jobs in St Athan, South Wales. Aston Martin will be opening it’s second manufacturing plant in St Athan following a process considering 20 different sites worldwide.

The new manufacturing centre, which was secured by the efforts of the Welsh Government, will see the first electric DBX vehicle coming off the production line in 2020. The site lies 15 miles west of Cardiff city centre and just west of Barry.

Wales has not seen car manufacturing since the Gilbern sports car was made in Pontypridd between 1959 and 1973.

As well as creating direct employment the new plant will bring a boost to local businesses developing and serving the site when the work begins next year.
